Pink Illumination of the Atomium for the Breast Cancer Campaign

On September 30 at 7:30 p.m., the eve of October's international breast cancer awareness month, the Atomium was turned into pink. This 'Pink Illumination' is given shape by Pink Ribbon, the national organization in the fight against breast cancer, and cosmetics company The Estée Lauder Companies. As is the annual custom, the Grand Place in Brussels will also light up in pink this evening until midnight. It is a powerful signal to all inhabitants of Belgium and a heartening gesture to all breast cancer patients and their families. The City of Brussels, the Brussels Region and the Atomium are thus supporting Pink Ribbon asbl, which is kicking off International Breast Cancer Awareness Month with this event.
